“GOAT” THE high roof FORD ECONOLINE SPORTSMOBILE RENOVATION

This customer came to me with a partially stripped down Sportsmobile she had pieced back together to use while she decided what she wanted and needed from her van. The full Sportsmobile package was overkill for her needs and took up a lot of space that she wanted to utilize in other ways. Key features she wanted were a proper setup for her fridge, basic water system, clean up the electrical system (there was a lot of extras from the original build that were no longer needed) and storage.

After laying down new vinyl flooring we went with a good size kitchen unit that houses the two burner propane stove tied to an undermounted tank, water jug system with small sink and USB rechargeable water pump, some drawers and the fridge on a slide out. To the rear of that is the simplified electrical system in a custom box designed to open up for easy access to the components and some cnc cut goats for venting. Utilizing what we could from the original system to cut down on costs we pieced together a basic 12v system that includes an upgraded Victron dc2dc charger to better support the 100ah battle born lithium battery and tied in her existing solar setup.

The bed is a typical slide out system with large drawers underneath. Behind that is storage for her 48” hi-lift jack for those sticky situations in the back country of Utah where she frequents. A large removeable storage box sits just ahead of that by the barn doors and a large upper cabinet was added between the existing upper cabinets at the rear of the van.
